So rain ends our month out.

It was pretty cloudy all day and the torrential storms occurred in the afternoon.

We tried to get some stuff done early in the morning…we weren’t able to plant the garden but we were able to plant all the flowers for the porch (5 pots) as well as the ivy for the porch.  Then we planted two wooden tubs for the side of the house — they look so nice with the brown grass spike in the back and the yellow mums in front and then the pink or red geranium in the very front.  I never got a chance to take pics, but I WILL.  During the planting it was SO MUGGY…the bugs were HORRIBLE…good thing for bug spray!!

By about 12:15 the rain had started so inside we went.

Showers for both of us and then lunch — appetizers (pizza rolls, mac and cheese bites, and fries), all while watching a Family Ties.

We both closed our eyes for a short nap…SO RELAXING with a full belly and listening to the thunder roll.

Eventually we forced ourselves to get up so we could get to our finance meeting (our only one so far this month…we knew it was going to be a doozy).  Coffee fortified us.  We were able to get through about 3/4 of it all.  The rest will be for tomorrow.

If we break even this month we’ll be lucky!

Dinner was an easy choice…pizza out, all while watching a House (only one more episode until we are done with this season).

Now we are catching up with online stuff…French, and for me writing a blog, looking at Facebook (I decided no more Facebook for the month of June…it’s too much of a time waster!), going through my book list at the library (deleting anything that I don’t want to read), and reading blogs.

It’s back to work tonight…boo!  THREE on — I hope they are easy.

Today was GO, GO, GO from the start.

We were up by 7:15 am.

Then breakfast and heading over to Kimm’s parent’s house so she could mow the lawn.

While she did that I watched DWTS (the finale) but didn’t get to finish it!

Home for lunch (veg burgers and a large salad and watermelon…so refreshing).

Then a short nap 🙂

Then back out again to pick up our plants for outside, the porch and the garden.  Of course we would have to go on the hottest day.  Seriously, the heat and humidity make me not much a fan of summer.  The humidity today was close to 90% so pretty much you stand outside and you are dripping sweat.

We tried a new place for our plants that a few people had recommended.  I thought it was just okay.  Very busy, hilly and not well-organized in my opinion…we WON’T be going there again.

We were happy with our selections…lots of bright colors!

Home for dinner (pizza).  While it cooked I watched the end of DWTS…can I just say I am SO HAPPY that Rumor and Val won!!!!!!!  I truly believe she deserved to win…she was THE BEST dancer.  But this season was lots of fun…can’t wait for next one!

After eating, then we were out out again…this time to Home Depot to get some pots for some of our flowers, as well as some topsoil and some rocks.  We have a plan to develop the area on the side and in front of the house.  I’m crossing my fingers that what we imagine in our head we can make happen in real life!

We got home about 9:45 pm.  Then it was showers for both of us (second of the day!) to wash off all the sweat of the day.

Now we are finally going to sit and have a snack before heading up to bed.

Whew…just writing all that out makes me exhausted!

No A.M. yoga today

Friday, May 29, 2015

We were going to TRY to make it to yoga this morning after I got home from work but it got a little too time-crunched so we skipped it.

My body was happy to get into bed 🙂

MY FIRST NIGHT OFF!!!  Can you FEEL the smile on my face through the written word?? 🙂

A simple night — quesadillas for dinner, relaxing, a few episodes of House.

Nothing too exciting.

Work last night was pretty good…and even better now that it is done!

As I said, I worked with the other supervisor last night and we had a funny incident…while we were putting a body in the morgue we were taking the top off the transporting device and with it sticking up high in the air we manage to break a ceiling tile!  Talk about being surprised, looking up and seeing a hole in the ceiling.  We laughed so hard, probably because we were both so tired!

Grilled out for dinner…love sitting and grilling out 🙂

Only two more nights on…crossing my fingers they go by fast!!

The heat wave begins again…

Can I just say WOW…the month is almost over…WHERE did it go???

Yesterday, Memorial Day, was nice.  We grilled out at Kimm’s parents and had lots of yummy food — cheese veggie burgers with fried onions, potato salad, veggies with dip, potato chips, pistachio fluff for dessert.  Watched “The Music Never Stopped” and I actually STAYED AWAKE!!  And success…only 5 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups…I was able to control myself 🙂

Today we had yoga in the morning…killer class!  Worked on balance moves and practically fell over several times 🙂

I watched DWTS the finale today and now just need to watch the results show…I’m so excited to see who wins! I honestly can’t believe that I haven’t found out via social media.  I’m REALLY pulling for Val and Rumor (in my opinion they are the best dancers!)

Stopped over at Kimm’s parents house tonight to drop off a gift card for them to use at the hospital tomorrow and Kimm lost her lip ring.  We spent QUITE a bit of time looking for it on the floor of her parent’s dining room with no luck.  That was truly worse than trying to find a needle in a haystack 🙂

Back on tonight.  At least I’m on with the other supervisor so hopefully it will go by quick!

In remembrance…

In Flanders Fields

John McCrae (1915)

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That marks our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard among the guns below.

We are the Dead.  Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

DWTS Tears

Sunday, May 24, 2015

I just finished watching the Semi-Finals of DWTS and I was BLOWN AWAY.

SO many good dances.

SO many great stories behind the dancers.

SO many tears.

I’m going to be so sad to see one of these dancers get eliminated.

This really has been a great season and it just reminds me again of how much I love to watch dance and who knows, maybe once I get more in shape, I might even try to do some dancing again.

Again…a super, super show and it makes me wish that I had watched from Season One!

I made it through  my two nights on and now I have two nights off which makes me one happy camper 🙂

Even though I slept kind of restlessly, I didn’t care.

Dinner was tacos (no ranch dressing…used taco sauce instead…it was a change, but one I think I could get used to!)

An after dinner walk with Izzy made her super happy!  (the mosquitos on the other hand did NOT make me happy!)

Plans for the rest of the evening — finishing off my pint of Cinnamon Buns ice cream and watching the follow-up to Forks over Knives.

It’s been a good day.

Just another work day

Get work snacks together.

Get work clothes together.

House with snack.

Back to work.

It’s a standard routine…no news.

Local Mexican food love

Friday, May 22, 2015

Another full day…

Yoga in the morning (wow, how can something that looks so easy be so hard!)

Home for showers and then out to eat for lunch…El Forestero.  It had been a while since we had eaten at our local Mexican place and boy was the food good!  Chips and salsa and guacamole to start, veggie quesadillas with rice and beans as the main meal, and naturally sweetened Mexican soda to wash it all down (pineapple for me and mango for Kimm).  We were both QUITE happy when we left.

Although we would have preferred to just come home and sit on the couch and nap, we stopped at the grocery store on the way home and picked up a few essentials to get us through the weekend.

But then when we did get home…we both took a little nap 🙂

It’s back to work for me tonight, but thankfully only TWO on.
