Book Club

I made it through my days on!

And I had our book club to look forward to as a nice treat.  We were going to meet at The Thirsty Mind (a coffee/wine place in South Hadley) but it turned out that they had a music group playing.   That probably wouldn’t have been too great as we were trying to discuss our book.  So we met at our old standby…Barnes and Noble.

Of course, no night of ours is ever without issues.

First, we took the highway and there was an accident.  So the traffic was UNREAL.  Thankfully it was better once we got past that spot.

Then, the parking lot was a bit slippery as we had snow earlier that day and it wasn’t removed very well.  But we slowly made our way in without a fall.

And lastly, they do not carry peppermint flavoring anymore so Kimm could not get her Peppermint Mocha Frappacino.  That was not a good thing.  And then there was really no other flavor she wanted and she doesn’t like Starbucks coffee, so she ended up not getting anything to drink while we were there.  That made me sad.  (me on the other hand…I had the Chestnut Praline Latte and it was delicious!  … but was it $5 delicious??  outrageous what they charge these days!)

But as far as the Book Club meeting…it was GREAT!

This is only our second time that we have met but so far we love it!  We discussed our book, Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum.  We all agreed that the book was good, but not great.  It was set in the WWII era and told the story of one woman who did whatever she had to in order to help herself and her daughter survive.  I have read many books about WWII and this was definitely not my favorite, but I did like it.

After we chatted about the book then the conversation shifted to so many different topics…it was just nice to sit and chat 🙂

At the end, we choose our next book …  10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress without Losing my Edge, and Found Self-Help that Actually Works: A True Story by Dan Harris.  We all agreed we would be interested in learning how to be more zen.

Again, I’m just SO HAPPY that we are now a part of a book club 🙂

BTW…once we got home we had to have a snack because we were starving!!!
